Stress is a reaction of the body when our hormones confront danger or some situation that makes our body think that we are in danger.

The body activates an energy source that fights the stress generated in our body, this is a chemical reaction that can produce cortisol, epinephrine and norephrine which can have the following direct effects on our body:

  • Increased blood pressure

  • Contraction of our muscles

  • Sweating in hands, feet, etc.

  • Full sense of alertness in the body

  • Increased heart beat

All of these effects are altered when we enter stress mode within our bodies. It is also known that climatic or environmental factors can lead us to a stress mode, not to mention aggressiveness, violence, traffic in a city and even a scary movie. The most common stressors are work, school, or money issues.

  • Increased pulse and blood pressure

  • Fast breathing

  • Digestive system slows down

  • Low level of defenses

  • Muscle tension

Acute Stress

  • The effects of acute stress are short-term such as severe headaches, stomach pain, if not controlled these quick effects can become chronic.

Chronic Stress

  • This type of stress is more delicate, since they are factors that constantly cause stress in our lives and for obvious reasons it becomes chronic in our life, but what kind of situations can they be? Financial poverty, unhappy marriage, or even a shaky job can be the cause of chronic stress.

  • What are the effects of chronic stress? It is well known that constant stress causes chronic diseases such as diabetes, overweight, sleep problems and will reduce sexual appetite and even heart disease, hand in hand with anxiety or depression are allies for the development of the effects of chronic stress.
